SlimComputer helps identify software that comes pre-installed on a new computer. If you've ever gotten a new PC and it came loaded with promotional programs, toolbars, links to advertising or trial offers, then you know how frustrating these things can be.
SlimComputer uses community-sourced feedback to get up-to-the-minute recommendations for any PC. Instead of using occasional updates to evaluate optimizations, SlimComputer has a real time stream to an online network, called a cloud. By accessing this contributive data cloud, SlimComputer can get the latest reviews of software, services and toolbars—no matter how new they are.
SlimComputer uses what's called "authoritative ranking" to ensure that the ratings for your programs are accurate and that they reflect what people really think. It works by weighing the ratings of each contributor against their previous levels of accuracy and against the ratings of high-ranking users. The high-ranking users make up a specialized team of tech experts that evaluates the latest software. As an extra level of precaution, we also monitor incoming ratings and automatically detect whenever someone labels a program in a way that's outside the mean. This lets us look into the program more carefully, taking care to guarantee the best evaluations.
