F.lux icon

Description

f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. F.lux will do the rest, automatically.

f.lux is a very useful app.

I didn't see it in the PC Essentials, nor in the Utilities section either, but when I search for it, I found it.

f.lux changes the color of your computer screen at sunset, from matching the color of a cloudy sky (bluish white - 6500k) to a much warmer (default setting) 3400k, Halogen.

----------------------------------------------------------
Make absolutely sure to use the slow transition, and you may want to start at Fluorescent, 4200k, since it's not as orange / yellow, and you'll adjust to that much faster.
----------------------------------------------------------

Halogen is actually a tad bit pink, and I prefer Incandescent 2700k, and you will need to expand the range for that, but it's really easy.

f.lux makes it a lot easier to view the monitor without disrupting your sleep as much, I still recommend you turn down the brightness of your screen at night.

Give this program a try for at least a week or two to give yourself ample time to adjust to the new colors, it quite literally will *NOT* happen overnight, or the next night, and probably not the night after that, so give it time.
